The Hortus IST, created in March 2021, is a garden dedicated to Biodiversity and Permaculture, featuring a vegetable garden developed according to permaculture principles, incorporating aspects of natural and synergistic agriculture. The Hortus was conceived as a shared space open to the entire IST community, resulting in a group of over 20 contributors, including students, lecturers, researchers, and staff. A stable collaboration has also been established with the Centre for Support of the Homeless (CASA) and Refood, with weekly donations of vegetables grown in the Hortus.
